We visited Valencia in April 2024 for four nights. The weather was warm and sunny and there are lots of fun activities for the kids, including free adventure playgrounds and the beach. However the highlight was a trip out of the city to visit the waterfalls and thermal springs.
The journey
We travelled by Easyjet to Valencia airport, and from there took the train to our Airbnb. The public transportation system in Valencia is excellent and whilst we were there we used the subway and buses to get around.
Where we stayed
We stayed in an Airbnb near the Mestalla Stadium. It was a good location between the city centre and the beach, with a lovely large balcony. The Airbnb internally was tired, however we spent very little time there so it didn’t impact on our holiday.
How we spent our time
The city is great for kids. The day we arrived we went straight out into the city and walked through the linear park to the Oceanografic, a huge aquarium with loads to see including a dolphin show. The following day we visited Parque Gulliver, a free public playground which was great for climbing and exploring, although my youngest who was three years old struggled a bit to get around the structure. We then took the bus to the beach and enjoyed paella overlooking the sea.
On the following day we had booked a group day trip out of the city to visit waterfalls and thermal springs in Montanejas with Get Your Guide. This was such a fantastic day out and I would highly recommend the trip. We met the tour group at a main station and were then driven out to the countryside. The tour guide was great, the scenery was beautiful and swimming in the thermal springs was a great experience. My one tip though is even if you are a strong swimmer accept one of their life jackets if you are with children (we had our own water jackets for the children) for yourself as it will make it far easier to support them in the water. On the last day we walked around the historic centre and found a great restaurant, Le Favole, that served absolutely delicious pasta and had an enclosed playground in front of the outdoor seating, which meant we could relax and eat once the kids had finished, and they had the freedom to play in a safe area.
